Maximilian K. Ehrhardt is a trumpet player and educator from Oakland, CA. Having graduated University of the Pacific in Jazz Performance under Joe Mazzaferro, Max brings hard bop influences of Lee Morgan, Blue Mitchell, and Freddie Hubbard to his ongoing jam participation at Madrone, Marsh, Jupiter, and Honor, regularly sitting in with emerging and established jazz scene performers. He’s been honored to perform with esteemed artists such as Ambrose Akinsmuire, Sean Jones, Marquis Hill, Mike Olmos, Richard Howell, Jon Santos, Gary Brown, Frank Martin, Deszon Claiborne, and Ravi Abcarian, in such respected venues as Yoshi’s, Mr. Tipples, the Paramount, Fox Theatre, the Monterey Jazz Festival, KCSM’s Jazz On The Hill, and the Noise Pop Festival.

Max has played and recorded internationally in both jazz and pop ensembles, touring and recording in Spain with Britney’s Peers on the Errors Tour, and engaging in cultural exchange in Shijiazhuang, China, bringing jazz ideas and expression to its enthusiastic listeners. His love of many different styles and genres is evident by his funk and soul performances featuring the music of Bill Withers, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Kool & The Gang, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and others, as he’s performed with MeloDious, Lunchbox, the Flannels, the Earth Gang, Neverland, and many others. Max is currently a member of Magilo, performing on both trumpet and keyboards at venues like Brick & Mortar and Rickshaw in San Francisco.

Max created and currently directs The Lakeshore Collective, representing the growing and inclusive community of Bay Area jazz musicians. As an ever-changing ensemble of artists and band members, Lakeshore Collective generally meets during the summer at Lake Merritt in Oakland and presents mainstream standards and surprising arrangements of a variety of compositions. The ensemble performs at private events and local bookings.
