SUMMER is flying by!

So many gigs, concerts, that posts here are shy. Here are a few catch up highlights! Magilo kicked off a pre-tour set in SF at The Rickshaw Stop - what a great turn out and good time performing our new songs! East Coast tour with Magilo included record breaking heat, and performing in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our time in New Salem was amazing; spending quality time together as a band, rehearsing, practicing, and writing music. Good times.

Arriving back in the Bay, I performed at John’s Grill, followed by a gig with Earth Gang! Then - Earth, Wind, and Fire at the Greek Theatre! Nimah, a friend from YMCO and I had awesome seats and backstage passes, and a highlight - meeting the legendary Philip Bailey! Got to talk with the band, such great times.

We just wrapped up the 2025 YMCO Summer Institute Final Concert - a lot of work, well worth it all! The night of performances went smoothly and was enjoyed by all. Now it’s a break from teaching until late Fall!

Oaktown Jazz continues classes over summer, as well as performing at a number of Bay Area Libraries - this is always rewarding, sharing the music with such a wide age range, in variety of communities. I have been busy rehearsing for Trumpet Collective Sunday, August 10. See my next post.

Not SO fast - still celebrating Summer, as the band leader of the Lakeshore Collective, I’m so happy we started these jam sessions again in June! It’s nice to be performing outdoors lakeside, and meeting many Oaklanders and musicians. Catch us performing each Sunday 4-7PM across from the highrise at 1200 Lakeshore. Pull up, hang out, bring a picnic blanket, and your instrument for this Lake Merritt live music jam!
