Sonny will share personal stories, reflections, and musical insights inspired by Miles Davis: the innovator, the bandleader, the cultural force, and the mystery at the center of modern jazz. Together, Sonny and Greg will explore not only the music, but the atmosphere, creativity, and spirit that made Miles one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. The evening will also feature live performances from the Erik Jekabson Quintet and rising young trumpeter Max Ehrhardt, connecting the spirit of Miles Davis and the Bay Area jazz tradition to the next generation of musicians carrying the music forward today. This time of year it’s been seasonally busy, with private gigs, events, and closing the year at Marsh, and Madrone. Add fun times performing with Magilo. It’s been a good year; there have been uplifting performances amidst the dark concerning times. I continue to be moved by the phenomenon that music is a powerful instrument that continues to bring us together, and I have witnessed the human spirit be uplifted and strengthened by gathering in community. The experiences of sharing time together in music and in community is healing. Please keep coming out, support live music, gather in purpose with heart, focus on what is most important - love, and kindness - and we’re sure to transcend while embracing anew. Wishing all a beautiful 2026!
