FRI 8/21/26 Kutting Korners at Mr. Tipples, San Francisco

Kutting Korners is a Bay Area based sextet paying tribute to the legendary San Francisco jazz club Keystone Korner. This all star lineup plays compositions and arrangements of music from the many classic live albums that were recorded during Keystone Korner's lifespan. Kutting Korners was developed as a result of bandleaders Gus Hurteau and Max Ehrhardt's deep admiration for the music recorded at Keystone Korner and its legacy and impact on the Bay Area jazz scene.

Bay Area musicians Max Ehrhardt, Richard Howell, and Isaac Coyle come together with bi-coastal New York artists Gus Hurteau and Hannah Mayer, with Ben Esposito touring from NYC for this special night of music.

3PM at Oaktown Jazz Workshops - Honoring the retired San Francisco venue, Kutting Korners pays tribute to the great live albums recorded at Keystone Korner. From 1970-83, this historic venue hosted amazing performers such as Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Cedar Walton, Joe Henderson, The Timeless All-Stars, Red Garland, Sonny Stitt, and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. This all star bay area based ensemble is composed of both emerging musicians and veterans of the original Keystone Korner scene. Trumpeter Max Ehrhardt and vibraphonist Gus Hurteau lead the band with arrangements and compositions from numerous live albums recorded at Keystone Korner, this is one ensemble you will not want to miss!

Maximilian K. Ehrhardt is a trumpet player and educator from Oakland, CA. Having graduated University of the Pacific in Jazz Performance under Joe Mazzaferro, Max brings hard bop influences of Lee Morgan, Blue Mitchell, and Freddie Hubbard to his ongoing jam participation at Madrone, Marsh, Jupiter, and Honor, regularly sitting in with emerging and established jazz scene performers. He’s been honored to perform with esteemed artists such as Ambrose Akinsmuire, Sean Jones, Marquis Hill, Mike Olmos, Richard Howell, Jon Santos, Gary Brown, Frank Martin, Deszon Claiborne, and Ravi Abcarian, in such respected venues as Yoshi’s, Mr. Tipples, the Paramount, Fox Theatre, the Monterey Jazz Festival, KCSM’s Jazz On The Hill, and the Noise Pop Festival.
